Jūrmala Coastal Pirts Pavilion

Engineered specifically around the Latvian ritual bathhouse tradition (*pirts*), this pavilion prioritizes high relative humidity (60–70%), mild ambient warmth (55°C–65°C), and full-body botanical leaf flailing.

The Anatomy of a Dedicated Pirts Bunk

Unlike Finnish saunas designed with steep tiered bleachers for high-temperature convection, a Latvian *pirts* requires a wide, 90cm flat treatment bunk constructed from silky linden wood (*Tilia cordata*). This allows the master practitioner (*pirtnieks*) to comfortably stand at waist height, working bundles of oak, birch, wormwood, and rowan over the bather's body.

Dual Steam Cauldrons & Fresh Air Induction

The Jūrmala Pavilion introduces a continuous fresh-air induction trench under the stove hearth. As fresh oxygen passes over the lower heated rocks, it ascends through copper herbal cauldrons filled with wild juniper branches and meadow grasses, perfuming the entire chamber with soothing terpenes.

"The Pirts is not an endurance test of scorching dry heat; it is a musical rhythm of leafy waves, cooling herbal sprays, and honey-salt scrubs that reawaken the skin."

Integrated Cold Deluge & Rest Veranda

The pavilion layout includes a semi-enclosed covered veranda equipped with an overhead hardwood cold-water dump bucket (25 liters) and an unheated relaxation alcove lined with dry linen hammocks.

  • Bench Ergonomics: Single tier, 85cm height with rounded soft edges to prevent circulation pinching.
  • Floor Drainage: Sloped duckboard larch flooring with continuous stainless drainage gutters.
  • Herb Hanging Racks: Solid brass ceiling hooks spaced every 50cm for seasonal aromatic drying.
